Jewellery Care Guide
Here at Rainbow Rocks we take great pride in being able to create beautiful jewellery that you can treasure for a lifetime. Whilst we take charge of the first stage of the creation of your jewellery, once it is with you, then there are things that you can do to make sure that it looks perfect for as long as possible.
Whether you have chosen to treat yourself to a Gold Vermeil or perhaps a Sterling Silver piece of jewellery from our range, and no matter which gemstone you have chosen, we have put together some of our top tips on how to keep it looking its best for as long as possible.
Gold Vermeil
Gold Vermeil is a Sterling Silver material that has been coated with a gold plate. This not only gives it a gorgeous look at a great price, but it also helps to ensure that it is longer lasting. Gold Vermeil is known to be durable and can be used for years. However, there are some key things that you can do to keep it looking its best.
If you have a ring, then it is important that you always make sure that you remove it before you wash your hands. You should also avoid wearing your Gold Vermeil jewellery when you are showering. You should also avoid wearing them when you are swimming as the chemicals in the water can impact the plating on the jewellery.
You should also avoid your jewellery coming into contact with any makeup, hairspray, perfume and lotions as these too can cause it to become tarnished and lose some of the shine that you will love.
If you find that your jewellery looks dull, then the best thing to use is a polishing cloth. This is gentle enough not to remove any of the layers of gold plating but will ensure that your jewellery looks shiny and like new.
Sterling Silver
Another material that we sell here is Sterling Silver. Sterling Silver is made up of a mixture of Silver and Copper. It is durable and is largely used in jewellery.
Sterling Silver can oxidise if it is in contact with air, which means that over time, it can become tarnished. The best way to rectify this and to restore the shine is to use a specialised cleaning cloth which is designed to work perfectly on Sterling Silver.
Gemstones
We offer a range of gemstones here at Rainbow Rocks, matching your own taste, style and, of course, the colour that you like. No matter which stone you pick, it is recommended that you keep it out of direct sunlight and definitely remove it if you are going to be out sunbathing. Strong UV rays and warm temperatures can cause your gemstone to fade in colour.
It is also important to be aware of any knocks or bumps to your jewellery as this can cause it to become damaged.
Owning a beautiful piece of jewellery is incredibly special, so make sure that you take proper care of your ring, bracelet, necklace or earrings, and they will definitely stand the test of time.
